Policy & Law Reform

Law, policies, and procedures have a real impact in the lives of migrants, refugees, and people seeking asylum.

We advocate for a humanitarian approach in the formulation, reform, and implementation of laws:

  • We provide submissions to Government.
  • We appear before administrative and legislative bodies.
  • We create synergy with other not-for-profit organisations to achieve our common goals.

Blueprint for Reform: National Advisory Group on Women on Temporary Visas Experiencing Violence (NAG)

RAILS is proud to me a member of the NAG, a group consisting of over 30 state and national peak bodies, services providers, organisations and individuals working to address violence against women across Australia. We commend the NAG's Blueprint for Reform: Securing safety for Victims/Survivors of Domestic and Family Violence who are on temporary visas. The blueprint provides an expert view on the next steps required to uphold the commitment of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 that “all people deserve to live safely and free from fear of violence”, by ensuring that the barriers to temporary visa holders accessing
safety are removed.
