The Power of Partnership

Refugees do not choose to flee. They leave behind homes, careers, communities, and everything familiar because staying has become impossible. The people who walk through RAILS' doors every day are looking for someone to help them find safety and a future. These are human beings in extraordinary circumstances, and how we respond to them as a community matters.

Here at RAILS, we deeply value the support we receive from the community, including from pro bono partners like Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer. Their support illustrates how genuine collaboration can strengthen access to justice for people seeking safety.

HSF Kramer has supported RAILS since 2017, including through dedicated clinics for asylum seekers, covering family reunion and humanitarian pathways. Their pro bono legal assistance and broader support for RAILS help us reach more people who need us. This ongoing support reflects a broader global commitment to refugee rights. The firm is a signatory to the Global Refugee Forum's Legal Community Pledge and sits on the Core Group that drives its implementation worldwide.

This commitment reflects something we believe deeply at RAILS: that refugee rights are not a niche concern. They are a human rights issue, and they call on all of us.

We share this not only to express our gratitude, but to highlight the importance of sustained partnerships in this work.

Community legal centres like RAILS depend on the generosity of organisations that understand the need for our work, and the impact we can have. It means a mother who can stay in Australia with her children. It means a man who fled persecution finally understanding his rights. It means someone who arrived with nothing having someone in their corner when it matters most.

Corporate partnership with RAILS is an opportunity to be part of that. Whether through pro bono expertise, financial support, or both, businesses of any size can make a meaningful contribution to some of the most important human rights work happening in Queensland right now.

We warmly invite others to join us in this work.
