Professor Maley will give a broad analysis of Taliban moves to stabilise the country after the takeover and the outlook for those attempting to flee after the US-led evacuations ceased.

Kylie McGrath, Executive Director and Principal Solicitor of Refugee and Immigration Legal Service (RAILS), will update on current government policy direction and regulation changes around humanitarian visa processing for Afghan nationals. 

Dr Angus Francis will overview the humanitarian visas legal process and insights as the solicitor supervising RAILS Afghan high-risk visa clinic.

Bernie Carrick, experienced RAILS refugee lawyer, will outline current processing issues affecting Afghan refugees in Australia who cannot access permanent protection visas.
