legal advice about
which visa to apply for.
What criteria must I satisfy for the
mainstream visa?
• You must satisfy the criteria for the particular class of
mainstream visa for which you are applying. Some of the criteria
for student and regional skilled migration have been relaxed for
TPV, THV and RPV holders and members of their family unit.
• You will still need to undergo medical
and character assessments
. However, if you or a member of your family does not pass the medical
test then you may be able to apply for a health
waiver.
• If you have a debt to the Commonwealth (for example because
you have been in detention and have not repaid the debt incurred
by that detention) then this will not prevent you from being granted
a mainstream visa.
