Adopted Children
This visa is available for children who have been, or will be, adopted
overseas. In most cases adoptions must be approved by the welfare
authorities in the overseas country and in Australia. In limited
circumstances an adoption visa may be granted where the adoptive
parent(s) have been living overseas for 12 months or longer prior
to the adoption.
This is a particularly complex area and you need to
get comprehensive advice to ensure that the adoption meets the requirements
of the Migration Regulations.

The sponsor must be
either the child's brother or sister, grandparent, aunt or uncle,
or niece or nephew (or step equivalents).
